About
We’re on a mission to spark transformative relationships that ripple through generations.
Our story
The Tenth is inspired by ancestral luminaries like Alain Locke, W.E.B. Du Bois, the Nardal sisters, and A’leila Walker. The Tenth modernizes the bygone salons, such as Walkers’ Harlem Renaissance-era Dark Tower series, to create curated, inclusive and creative experiences as a tool to invest in the social and cultural infrastructure of our communities. We are building a community for folks from all walks, dedicated to gathering for intellectual, cultural, and civic pursuits with intentionality and curiosity.
We are also inspired by salons - the informal gatherings that have been staples of global liberation movements like the French Revolution, Negritude, the Harlem Renaissance, and the Black Arts Movement. It was in these gatherings, these third spaces, where communities gathered with intention, shared knowledge, and socialized ideas for a generative and joyful future.
Our founders
Started by husband-and-wife team Nasim and Clint Fluker, what began as a series of monthly salons to more like-minded friends for themselves and their small children has grown into a cultural incubator of its own, elevating the intersection of art, culture, history, and community.
